Prof. Joseph Sunday OGEH is a specialist and consultant in Soil Fertility and Land Management. He holds a doctorate as well as Master of Science degrees in Agronomy (Soil Science) from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, and Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from the University of Sokoto (now Usman Dan Fodio University), Sokoto, Nigeria. He has over 40 years of work/cognate experience spanning diverse disciplines, including Agronomy (Soil Science) and Forestry.
His recent research activities cover soil health assessment and management; conservation tillage in cropping systems; forest ecosystem, soil organic carbon content/stock in forest and plantation crops, sustainable and profitable production of agronomic crops, tree crops and forest; tillage management, soil and nutrient losses, fertilizer management, land use effect on soil properties and soil variability studies; management of greenhouse and field fertilizer trials.
He is actively engaged in diverse consulting services, including capacity building/training and workshops on Integrated Soil Fertility Management, Agro-ecological Practices, Climate Smart Agriculture, Soil mapping/analysis/interpretation, Oil Palm seedlings production etc. He has also served as team-lead to establish agro-forestry farms and farmers' fields, arable and permanent/plantation/production crops in most agro-ecological zones in Nigeria.
He is a member of several international, national and local organizations, including: Soil Science Society of America (SSSA), International Union of Soil Science (IUSS), Soil Science Society of Nigeria (SSSN), Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria (IMCON), etc. He has attended several international and local conferences and workshops and has over 47 publications in peer-reviewed journals, chapters in books and conference proceedings to his credit.
