Prof. (Mrs.) J. M. KOYENIKAN is an Agricultural Extension, Rural Development and Gender in Development Specialist. She holds a doctorate degree in Agricultural Extension from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria as well as M.Sc. and B.Sc. (Hons) in Agricultural Extension Services from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Her professional working experience started during the one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the Directorate of Food, Roads and Rural Infrastructure (DIFRRI).
She rose through the ranks from Agricultural Officer II to Principal Agric. Officer/Regional Coordinator Extension/Coordinator-Women-In-Agriculture (WIA) at the Projects Coordinating Unit (PCU) of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) Regional Office, Benin-City from 1990 to 2009 where she was involved in various programme implementation, reviews, supervision, training-of-trainers, back stopping, etc. She also facilitated participatory community planning/participatory rural appraisal exercises.
She joined the University of Benin, Benin City in 2009; and presently a Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics & Extension Services. She has been involved in teaching, administration, community services/outreaches and mentoring students. She has supervised several undergraduate, M.Sc and PhD candidates. She has to her credit over 50 articles published in peer reviewed journals.
She is a member of many professional organizations/bodies, namely: Agricultural Extension Society of Nigeria (AESON); Rural Sociological Association of Nigeria (RUSAN), Organization for Women in Science for Developing World (OWSD), Nigerian Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (NIFAAS) (by extension AFAAS and GFRAS) and Agriculture, Nutrition and Health Academy. She has attended and presented papers in several local and international conferences and workshops. Her hobbies include singing and meeting people.
