Professor of Agricultural Economics with over 40 years of experience in forestry research, silviculture, agroforestry, and community livelihood enhancement.
Dr. Felix O. IDUMAH is a Professor of Agricultural Economics. He holds Bachelor of Science degree (Economics), Masters, and Doctorate degrees (Agricultural Economics with specialization in Environmental and Resource Economics) from University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He also attended Federal College of Forestry, Jos and Federal College of Forestry, Ibadan where he obtained Ordinary and Higher Diploma in Forestry in 1981 and 1985 respectively.
His career in forestry started in 1979 when he was employed as Forest-Assistant-in-Training in Forestry and by dint of hard work and dedication, he rose from the ranks to the position of a Research Professor. His experience both as a technical and research scientist in Forest Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) spans over 40 years. His areas of research interest include: community livelihood enhancement, poverty alleviation, natural resources conservation, environmental sustainability, etc.
He has to his credit several years of experience in Silviculture (nursery operations, plantation establishment and maintenance), Agroforestry, Ecology, Wood processing & Utilization as well as marketing, Forest Economics, Extension and Administration. He was head of FRIN Outstation for over 8 years; and Head of Department of Forest Economics and Extension for over 6 years. He served as the General Manager of Industrial Development Unit (IDU), an outfit of FRIN set up for the processing, utilization and marketing of wood products.
He served as a member of FRIN's Internal Management Committee, Chairman, Central Promotion Committee, Chairman Training Committee, and member of other Committees like Anti-Corruption Transparency Monitoring Unit; FRIN, Board of FRIN Consult Unit etc. He represented FRIN at the National Consultative Committee on Competitiveness (NCCC, Sub-Committee on Research and Development anchored by the Raw Materials Research and Development Council [RMRDC] — an agency of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.
He is a registered member Forestry Association of Forestry (FAN), Forest and Forest Products Society, Nigerian Economic Society, International Society of Tropical Foresters, Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economists, Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA). He has over 100 publications in peer reviewed journals, conference proceedings and technical reports.
