Grassroots specialist in aquaculture & fish breeding with over 20 years of hands-on management, training, and research experience in tropical fish farming across Nigeria.
Dr. Marinus Egwenomhe is a grassroots specialist in aquaculture & fish breeding with hands-on management and training experience in tropical fish farming. He holds graduate degrees (MSc. and PhD) in Fisheries obtained at the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria.
He is a member of the FAO National Task Team that oversees the successful development and deployment of the Aquaculture and Fisheries Global Resource Information System (AquaGRIS) platform in Nigeria. Dr. Egwenomhe has cognate job experience spanning teaching, administration, and on-field knowhow with over 20 years of experience in both earthen and artificial fish pond management as well as artisanal fishery.
He served as Head, Department of Aquaculture Management & Fishery, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria from 2024 to 2026. He is a dedicated Training and Technology Administrator (TTA) with ICT4D of the Catholic Relief Services (CRS), a Trainer of Trainers certified by the Nigeria Agricultural Enterprise Curriculum and USAID. He is a regular trainer of fish farmers as a consultant for Edo State ADP, NDE, and other agencies.
Dr. Egwenomhe has facilitated hands-on Training of Trainers (ToT) for the Society for Family Health (SFH) across Nigeria, including communities in Kano, Osun, Ogun, Delta, Anambra, and Ondo States. He also facilitated training for the USAID FEED THE FUTURE programme in Asaba, Delta State, and for the World Bank FADAMA II and FADAMA III programmes in Edo and other states.
His proficiency in Nigeria's major languages — Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa — has been central to his effectiveness as a grassroots training facilitator. He has over 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and technical reports to his credit.
